Inspiration

Our inspiration was popular survival games like Minecraft, Rust, and The Forest. We also got inspired from the Japanese Samurais.

What it does

The Samurai has to survive from bosses, bats, and ninjas. The Samurai has to also keep his health sufficient enough to fight off more enemies.

How we built it

We built The Samurai using VS Studios, Python, and Python pygame. We first coded the background, and then we found animations for our Samurai from itch.io. We then debugged our code and got rid of any mistakes/errors that were in our code.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges we faced were we repeatedly overlapped code which took us a long time to fix. For example, the bats originally dealt damage by coming in contact with the player. We didn't notice and overlapped this with the bat attacking the player and dealing damage. We spent a lot of time trying to fix this, which should not have been a problem. From this though, we learned to document our steps and to keep note of our mistakes/errors.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of making a survival game that is successful. We are also proud of making animations of the character and the sprites.

What we learned

We learned how to animate the sprites and the character.

What's next for The Samurai

We plan to extend and make our game more detailed by adding more platforms, levels, enemies, characters, a bigger storyline, dialogue, and many more features.
