Inspiration
The classic game Space Invaders, and the infinite knowledge on coral bleaching I learned in my chemistry class. Also our love of coral reefs built on a coral reef documentary our teacher made us watch in 11th grade
What it does
It's a super fun game where you shoot polluters (using SPACE) before they kill you with their water beams. You also have to protect the coral reefs behind you, which will be bleached and killed if the polluters hit them.
How we built it
We built the game using Unity and the C# coding language. We made our sprites for all character models using Paint3D.
Challenges we ran into
There was a lot of code and we didn't know much about the language C# nor how to use Unity but we are familiar with Java which is quite similar. We had to do a lot of youtube video guides to figure our way through the language.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made very great and detailed models for all sprites in the game. The code works exactly as intended, with the hitboxes for the models and the lasers being fairly accurate.
What we learned
We learned a lot about how to animate and build games using Unity, and we got a quick intro to C# and all the methods and grammar associated with it. This the first game we've ever programmed so there was basically nothing familiar about it.
What's next for The Salmon Saga
Adding more levels, score tracker, having an option to change difficulty, creating a boss fight, making a menu and UI.
