Inspiration
Our inspiration for this project comes from the lack of quality housing services and social life opportunities that colleges currently provide for students.
What it does
The app uses students' school credentials to determine whether they live on campus or commute. It then asks a few questions to match them with groups and residents who share similar interests and lifestyles.
How we built it
We built the app using React for a mobile-friendly web view and coded the Frontend in Java, incorporating AWS for hosting and data management.
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge we faced was troubleshooting why the website wasn’t loading. We discovered the issue was due to using an outdated version of the program.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of how much progress we made, especially considering how late we started the project.
What we learned
We learned how to collaborate effectively, bounce ideas off each other, and find common solutions to real-world problems that many college students face.
What's next for The Room Service
Our next step is to launch The Room Service app on app stores and partner with colleges across the state.
