Inspiration

"The Rhythm of Gyeongju" was inspired by Korea’s ancient capital, Gyeongju — a city where history breathes through temples, stone monuments, and timeless culture. I wanted to reinterpret these cultural elements using AI, blending traditional Korean pansori with modern hip-hop to create a unique music-driven visual experience.

What it does

This project reimagines Gyeongju’s heritage through AI-generated cinematography, fusing:

• Traditional Korean vocal style (pansori)
• Modern hip-hop rhythm
• Reconstructed visuals of Bulguksa, Seokguram, Daereungwon, and Woljeong Bridge The result is an AI-crafted music film that explores how ancient culture can coexist with modern creativity.

How we built it

I used multiple AI tools to construct the entire workflow:

• Suno AI for generating the pansori–hip-hop fusion soundtrack
  
• Sora AI, Google AI, Midjourney for visual generation, re-creation, and compositing
  
• Luma AI for motion, interpolation, and cinematic transitions
  
• Final editing, color shaping, and structure were completed through AI-assisted video editing
  All scenes were AI-generated and reconstructed without using commercial footage.

Challenges we ran into

• Achieving accurate visual representation of cultural heritage sites using AI prompts
  
• Balancing traditional aesthetics with modern rhythm
  
• Maintaining narrative cohesion while using multiple AI tools with different visual tendencies
  
• Ensuring the project stayed original while dealing with highly iconic cultural styles

• Sound, movement, and cultural symbolism can coexist beautifully when designed with intention
  
• Combining multiple AI platforms expands creative possibilities but demands strong direction
  

What's next for The Rhythm of Gyeongju

This version is being submitted to international film festivals in the Music Video category.
The next step is exploring a longer-format visual album that expands on Korea’s cultural and emotional landscapes through AI-driven filmmaking.
