I'm a passionate analog filmmaker, just watching the world change and evolve, and don't want to be left behind. I love storytelling, and I see AI as a space of boundless opportunity. I was inspired to teach myself beginner skills and practice on a real-life script that I love and don't have the money to see come together at present.

This is a live-action film trailer to promote a feature-length screenplay that I would like to make.

I took characters from my real script, gave them faces in midjourney then designed their action in Runway and settings and plot devices in VO3. I gave voice to them in ElevenLabs. And also created the soundtrack with ElevenLabs.

Challenges I ran into, I'm a beginner, so I burned through credits and had to spend way more money than I actually have. I didn't realize monthly subscriptions run out so quickly. Writing clever prompts to generate exact animations one is looking for. Running into potentially violating terms of use with seemingly innocent prompts was confusing. Managing to work with the programs to make cinematic, photorealistic people was important to me, and often characters became cartoonish. And movements in authentic. Practicing and working on all these things was fun, but challenging. It burned through my wallet.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of, I think the trailer turned out beautifully. I think it tells the story of my script without giving away the ending, as it's a thriller. I love the pacing and editing. I have edited all my own work in the past, so at least that's a skill I already had, I loved working with AI; the opportunities made me feel empowered, and it's rather addictive to be honest. The more I learned, the more I wanted to work with it.

What I learned I learned how to hop from platform to platform, bringing files in and out. I learned how to use ElevenLabs and get voices to do things I wanted. This was my first time playing with VO3, which was super exciting as it's seemingly the most advanced program I have worked with yet. I definitely learned to write better prompts through the practice of writing the prompts for this project.

What's next for The Red Village Trailer, in an ideal world, I would like to generate interest in the project, raise the money, and shoot it this year.
