Inspiration
Our inspiration was the political divide in america and how ti affects the mental health of the youth
What it does
our bot takes in either a specific topic and summarizes it in an unbiased manner or it can be provided a link and tell if the link is left leaning or right leaning
How we built it
we used a pre trained tensorflow neural network called pipeline in order to create our summarizer. Our link bias bot was made using a neural network we built from the ground up with pytorch and was trained using a dataset from kaggle of over 13 thousand data points
Challenges we ran into
Formatting our data was very difficult as the dataset had a lot of information we didnt need so we had to chop it down using python and then forma it all into lists. this issue took an unexpected amount of time to solve
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The biggest accomplishment we have had was definitely creating our link bias checker. It was extremley difficult to build and train a neural network from the ground up in the time we where given
What we learned
Our organization was really messy and awe were not able to get things done efficiently which is something our entire team needs to work on
What's next for The Real News
Our next step is to develop a UI that links with our python to make our bot even more user-friendly and accessible
