The Prototype Live - Chrome Cowgirl

A soundtracked story of a woman who falls inside her own game. The music is scored by me (guitar, bass, beat), then elevated with AI (Suno). The character is based on trained images of me.

Inspiration

I've been wanting to finish the Chrome Cowgirl for awhile and this seemed like a great opportunity to. I always had a big vision for the song, but it was bigger than my budget (both for a studio band and a music video). This contest and recent major strides in AI have made it possible for me to do things that seemed gimmicky with the same tools just a year ago. We are entering the professional-level era of AI and I am mostly inspired by how exciting it is to have all these tools that I once dreamed of, for free, without selling out to a label.

What it does

It makes me dance and imagine far away lands.

How we built it

I am the sole builder on this project. I used Memedeck for character training & storyboarding, Nano-Banana for staging when needbe, and free Grok for animation. (I wish I could use Kling, but it was a bit out of my budget for my music entry. I used Kling for my film entry, though!)

Challenges we ran into

Budget. Not wasting tokens when I only have a few. My imagination kept running wild and to confine my ideas to 3 minutes when there was so much cool footage and so many more scenes I wanted to include was a bit rough.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Character consistency and creativity. I also like the song, it makes me wish Daft Punk would get back together haha.

What we learned

I learned that anyone can tell their story in a powerful and engaging way if they put their mind to it and seek to tell an honest story that is true to them.

What's next for The Prototype Live - Chrome Cowgirl

I'll be submitting a few more things, some built more with the sponsors. Whether I win now with Chroma or I win later, I plan on continuously making new content EVERY day. There's no reason to not create a new short story or song and bring it to life to tell a part of your world daily! Perhaps 20 years from now, I'll have a legacy like Matt Stone, Trey Parker, or Michael/Prince, where people can watch footage from my vault for ages if they so please. That would be major goals.
