Inspiration
The Prompt Floor was born from a simple question: “What if AI video models had an actual crew behind the screen?” Every time I use generative tools, I imagine an invisible movie studio trying to interpret my prompts , confused, overworked but enthusiastic. So, I wanted to explore that world. Not from a technical POV, but from a human, comedic, and slightly touching angle. A mockumentary about misunderstanding, creativity, and the absurd encounter between human intention and machine interpretation.
What it does
The Prompt Floor is a workplace mockumentary film that imagines what happens inside an AI video generation model, filled with references and easter eggs about AI Culture & Cinema. Instead of algorithms and data, we meet a dysfunctional but passionated production studio, starring the PA, the Production Designer, the DOP, the Stylist and more.... Everything runs smoothly until the human director sends the vaguest prompt possible
How I built it
It first started as a quick Veo experiment a few months ago that gave birth to this concept and those characters. I took this proof of concept as the source to write a character bible, their personalities, their conflicts, and their humor style, before writing the whole script of episode 1 in detail. Only then, I started pre-visualization using generative image, with production design, scene building and storyboard, before bringing all that to life.
Challenges I ran into
like any creative project, the main challenge is the story, and finding the right balance between humor and emotion. How to keep each character distinct, each one with a real personality and how to build a coherent story within that absurd chaotic world. Then came the AI video challenge, not from a spectacular angle, but from how deep I could create subtle human gestures and nuances expressions, where comedy is not triggered by over the top performance but by very subtle behaviors
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I was able to write and direct a complete structured and entertaining episode of a series, that I enjoyed making as much as I enjoy watching it. But mostly, it's about creating characters that I want to follow and share more stories with.
What I learned
Comedy is different from Action and very demanding. No spectacular imagery nor beautiful landscapes nor fast paced sequences can save you. Here, the screenwriting and the prompt engineering is the real filmmaking. You need pace, timing, performance, subtlety and non stop entertainment to make scenes feel alive and grab you till the end.
What's next for The Prompt Floor
This is the first episode. more will come, digging into the day to day lives of these characters and more.
