Inspiration
It has happened to all of us that we have an idea or project but don't have the knowledge or means to go ahead and do it. We saw that we needed a way to make our dreams coming true easier, to get in touch with people who want and can help us do it.
What it does
The Project Den is an online platform that allows its users to create, share, get to know and join projects of any kind.
How I built it
We built it through HTML5, javascript, CSS and some frameworks.
Challenges I ran into
Our biggest challenge was at the beggining of the project. We had decided to use Ruby on Rails, a language that we didn't know, we tried to learn it, and we actually got pretty far. But we didn't think that implementing back end into our project would be as time consuming as it was.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
First of all, we are proud of the idea. We believe it actually solves a problem that presents to many people in a way that will definitely push mankind forward through more completed projects and less dead ideas. We are also proud of the way we worked as a team, solving one challenge after another through collaboration.
What I learned
I think the most important thing we learned is that it does not matter if you don't know something, there will always be ways to beat those barriers. In this Hackaton we learned Ruby and Rails, we practiced our front end skills, and we understood that a project must be thought with dedication, and planning ahead is a must, if we want to build a product of quality.
What's next for The Project Den
The Project Den has a wide growth margin. What we believe is the next step is to add functionalities that not only let you create, share, know and join projects, but also manage and complete them through the same platform.
