Inspiration

We all love The Princess Bride, so we thought it would be fun to do a project based on it!

What it does

After waiting for his grandfather to come read S.Morgenstern's classic tale of love and adventure again, our main character starts to read the book for himself. Suddenly, he finds himself transported into the story! But something is different this time... Buttercup fails to realize Westley loves her, Inigo Montoya's sword gives no guidance, and the Dread Pirate Roberts wakes up determined to kill Westley. In this terminal-based game full of minigames and adventure, you play the role of the grandson. Will true love win? It's up to you to save the story!

How I built it

Built in C++ using Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, and vim

Challenges I ran into

There were a lot of people working on this (4 people), so we had to learn how to work on different parts without getting in each other's way. It was also the first time for many of us using git.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Our team worked efficiently, we made a plan and stuck to it. We're super excited about how this game turned out!

What I learned

Our biggest takeaways from this weekend are knowing how to use git and learning more about team workflow using GitHub. We're ready for more group programming projects!

What's next for The Princess Died

If we work on this more, we would like to make the user input more intuitive and allow for a variety of responses. We also wanted to make a help function using the character of the grandfather. Finally, it would be fun to add a greater variety of minigames.

We're so excited to share this game with you! Enjoy!
