We are creating the best predictor for MLB teams if they were to go head to head

Inspiration

Losing money over a sporting bet is never a good feeling. We want to make sure you don't lose another cent again!

What it does

The predictor is a web application that can predict the outcome of two teams if they were to go head to head.

How we built it

We used bootstrap for the front-end and used flask as our framework. The backend is powered by tensorflow.

Challenges we ran into

One of the challenges we ran into is figuring out what metric is best used to determine whether a team should win or not. We also ran into some problems when it came to making the website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We currently have a functionally working predictor that can accurately predict games from 2000 - 2015. This is unique as the user can use a 2013 team and compare it to a 2014 team.

What's next for The Predictor

We plan on training it to predict games that will occur. This means we can eventually try to predict the winner of the MLB season before the season happens. This will probably be included as a premium feature. We will need to incorporate newer data so that it predicts more accurately for the games that are going to be played in 2021.
