Inspiration
Since this is our first hackathon, we wanted to take it a bit easier and create something that was funnier than functional. We stumbled upon this idea when one of our members pitched the idea to create a website that does nothing.
What it does
This website has a button in the middle that when pressed plays Nyan cat and flashes hello world in rgb.
How we built it
We used HTML and CSS to create the front-end and javascript to create the functions and back-end.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges when we tried to put the audio in. I found that the button could be pressed multiple times so the audio would play more than once. We fixed this by adding a function to disable the button after the first click.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of completing our first hackathon! We hope to join more in the future and possibly creating something that is actually useful.
What we learned
We learned how to use git and GitHub to push and pull updates. I'm looking forward to in-person hackathons to experience the difference.
What's next for The Pointless Button
We hope in the future we can add more pointless functions. For example, the button makes the background of the page change or makes it rain money.
