What it does

In The Pit! you can grab any weapon, all are unlocked and free, but you can only hold one at a time, so choose wisely how you want to play.

Once you’re equipped, we jump into the battlefield, where you’ll compete with other players to see who can score the most points. Points are earned by eliminating other players or collecting cores, which appear randomly across the map at different times. In addition to points, you’ll earn coins, which can be exchanged in a shop located in the lobby.

In the lobby, you won’t be able to harm other players.

On the map, you’ll find jump pads that give you even more mobility than usual.

How we built it

The game was built with Typescript using VSCode for programming and UI, and GenAI Assistant also helped set things up.

For the design aspect, we used Blender for the map entities and Photoshop to create the text, textures, icons, and panels.

Challenges we ran into

This is my first time creating a game by myself, and since it had to be remixable for others to use, organizing all the systems modularly so that most features could work independently was probably the toughest part.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to build my first game solo has already been an achievement, so I’ll stick with that.

What we learned

I’ve been able to learn a lot, especially about the UI system in Horizon Worlds. I knew it could be local or server-based, but I had never been able to make it work properly locally—this time I did. Maybe with a little help from the Assistant, but it was definitely great to learn with a system that can assist you.

What's next for The Pit! - Free For All

It can definitely be said that the game is finished and functional, but I’d like to optimize it further for people who are going to remix it.

Additionally, I’d like to add many more cosmetics to the shop, not just backpacks, since VR users can’t fully enjoy the backpack visually. I want players on all platforms to be able to enjoy what they purchase in the game.

Another thing to add in the future would be more weapons and additional systems, like melee.
