Inspiration
We wanted to tackle the SAS challenge with a unique approach: a fun, memorable game. What can be more memorable than playing as a high-resolution pig cleaning up plastic waste in the middle of a high-resolution forest?
What it does
With "advanced" AI path-finding algorithms, gaze in awe at the surrounding animals whilst you embark on a journey to reduce waste in the Forest! Take control of the baddest pig around as you find, eat and recycle all the thrown away plastic ruining our beautiful Forest, and solidify your knowledge of recycling!
How we built it
With an idea in our minds, we put on our Porker faces and got to work in the Unreal engine; from developing custom blueprints to UI creation, a pig was born in the masses.
Challenges we ran into
Little to no prior experience in using game engines. A 1AM mistake on Sunday morning where we deleted half the assets and their corresponding behaviours.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The innovative UI, independent AI system, interactions between the player and the various interactable objects located throughout the map, all make this game an outstanding experience for the user. And all created on only 6 cans of Monster... each.
What we learned
There is a lot of hidden interactions between objects, characters, levels, actors etc. which were not obvious to us This project allowed us to gain a new perspective on the way to solve problems like this . Also backup your project frequently!
What's next for The piggest cleanup of all time
We would love to add more animals, quests, levels, better animations, optimisation for mobile, support for tanks, SMS integration, registering the game to a domain, unlocking a plane to travel in, and unlock skins for the waste such as generic beer cans, and to enable use in hospitals.
