What's next for The Photon Project - Photon
We were inspired by media and films like "Talk To Me" and "Mean Girls" which depict superficial or fake friendships. They also depict lonely people, people with social anxiety, etc. This is a site/app that connects people to form genuine long-term friendships. Our goal was to simulate the processes that lead people to becoming friends. This includes first having common interests, engaging in activities, tasks, or hobbies together, sharing things about themselves, having watch parties or read-alongs, and tying their memories together with sensory things like music (in real life, that could be something like fragrance or a late night drive with someone). One our site, users have access to our writing assistant, Hue. They also have access to multiplayer games, our community page, and our chatting section at the bottom right. Users can also access their profile. Our site assigns people to various profiles using the topic selection page. In doing this, we pair people with common interests. A challenge we went through was formatting and being creative with Wix because it can often be quite rigid. We were also forced to put our communication and teamwork skills to good use when we were creating the game. Another challenge we ran into was combining our two ideas, 'simulating real life with technology' and 'helping people make real friends online beyond superficial interactions like Omegle'. We are very proud of how good the graphic design and style of the site despite running into many formatting issues with Wix. We call this 'The Photon Project' because just like the speed of light, we're connecting and guiding people to form fast friendships that last a lifetime with people from all across the world. For the next Photon Project, we plan on creating more games that promote people learning together rather than just completing tasks together.
