Inspiration

  • we were going to do trick or treat routing but we didn't what we would be offering other than a pathfinding algorithm using apis to gather other factors to use such as household income and footfall.
  • our teammate krish who had been looking around noticed a prize from capital one and suggested making a game trading spectral stocks based on events. it being the best idea we had, we dropped the other projects and started brainstorming

What it does

  • gamifies the stock market, as you trade asssets teaching financial literacy

How we built it

  • using unity
  • built menu system using redbug redfern tutorial
  • self implemented dialogue system
  • cut down on currencies and events
  • skimped on art and music
  • tested with our friends for feedback and iterated

Challenges we ran into

  • version control is not as accessible in unity and experience in technologies wasn't evenly distributed which made collaboration harder
  • time management
  • we tested it on people we knew so when we did final tests with strangers, they didn't understand much
  • full nights sleep

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • finishing the project, for a large part of the project we doubted we could
  • each of us learnt something new

What we learned

  • come with ideas before the hackathon
  • don't be too ambitious, do what you can and do it well
  • fns

What's next for The Phantom Of Wall Street

  • fixing the art and music
  • adding a functional tutorial
  • adding more coins and events
  • deploying on itch io
  • fns
