The Petting Zoo

Inspiration

We wanted to bring awareness to the many animals that are in need

What it does

When a person logs in, you get assigned an animal based on your preferences and an animal that is up for adoption gets matched to this digital animal!!! There are features of Tamagotchi like feeding, cleaning and sleeping which modify the stats of your animal.

How we built it

We built it with express, React, heroku, auth0, mongodb. Each user gets assinged an animal with different stats.

Challenges we ran into

Felix was not familiar with express and Camilo was not familiar with React so we had a lot of learning to do. We wanted to have custom colors for the sprites that generate but did not get to this point. As well as change the sprite animations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We had the app up and running with the core functionality which we can build on top of in the future. The app seems to be pretty scalable!

What we learned

We learned a lot about react, express and mongodb.

What's next for The Petting Zoo

Reduce the stats for pets over time as well as more live interactions. Custom sprites and friendships
