Inspiration
We want to be the change that gets people from slacktivism to community engagement.
What it does
Allows people to send physical postcards to their elected representatives with policy ideas that they care about. Users can choose a policy, customize a message about that policy, then select their representatives to mail their message.
How we built it
We forked a project that used Google Civic API to find representatives. From there we configured in our own API key and hosted the page on GitHub.
Challenges we ran into
Coding the javascript was a challenge that stumped everyone on the team.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We printed and sent our first physical postcard! We are also extremely proud of all that we learned. This was a team with no coders and one person experienced with web design. We pushed hard to find a solution for our idea and are very proud of where we landed.
What we learned
This week has been the hardest crash course in web development. We came in not even knowing the difference between GitHub and Stackoverflow. By the end of the week, we had a grasp on how a website and the applications within them come together.
