Inspiration

I created this web app because I wanted to learn more about machine learning while developing my sense of humor, and this was a fun way to get my feet wet. With the rise of machine learning, we’ve come to expect it to have all the answers for us if we feed it the right data. But what if machine learning empowered us to come to our own ideas and conclusions? That’s what this project explores.

What it does

It's essentially NoseNet - allowing you to draw on the screen with your nose.

How we built it

p5.js and ml5.js

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge in creating this project was learning to let go of the idea of what an impactful hackathon project means and unleashing my creativity to make something fun. This was also a thoughtful exercise in developing my no-nonsense humor, so thanks for the challenge, VenusHacks!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being serious and funny— while not quite seriously funny, I'm working on it.

What we learned

This project has more value than meets the eye.

What's next for The Other Nnet

Given more time, I would’ve added more gestures to change shapes and colors added to the screen, stop and start drawing, and offer wildcard options for those who can’t decide. I’d also add the option to leave temporary drawing trails to simulate motion or matrix-like movements. It’s possible to draw with other parts of the body as well such as the ear or someone’s rear end - body writing is indeed a thing in other cultures. Lastly, I’d also want to implement a way to save and send people’s masterpiece to others if they so choose and offer a multiplayer-type option through web real-time communication where people can interact with one another while drawing.
