Inspiration

I wanted to tell a timeless tale of what it means to exist in the universe through the eyes of an alien race that appreciates life by observing and recording all of it. This was a project fully produced in 48 hours for the Runway: Gen 48.

How we built it

AI native filmmaking by starting with AI. All video was generated with Runway, audio with ElevenLabs and imagery/look development with Midjourney.

Challenges we ran into

Some tools just weren't up for the task (Adobe, Krea, Epidemic Sound) and were tried but the assets not used. A power outage and issues with slow generations and overloaded servers plagued this production.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Getting it done to a finish point! And the unique look of the project.

What we learned

Having great workflows is key to getting good results fast.

What's next for The Observers

This is really a showcase piece that is leading to other more interesting projects and ideas for more longer-form productions.
