Inspiration
The inspiration behind our project was we wanted to do a fun robotics project for a snack jar to 'protect' our snacks.
What it does
A jar with a lid that buzzes every time someone opens it. Instills fear in those that shouldn't be touching your snacks so that you can protects your snacks.
How we built it
We built it with the Grover Beginner Kit for Arduino and Arduino IDE.
Challenges we ran into
1) We realized the hardware we were using in project were not functional or properly working. 2) We were trying to get the buzzer that was going off continuously and the light to work together. 3) Trying to work on the code at the same time as well as testing. This was hard bc there's only one kit and laptop issues with the port not showing up.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
1) We realized on our own that the hardware was the issue, not our code. 2) We felt distraught and frustrated that more than half the hackathon had passed and we had to start from scratch essentially! We almost gave up but stayed positive and made progress bit by bit (LOL), gave each other encouragment and kept going. 3) Were able to get the buzzer to turn on according to the light!! We did it!
What we learned
1) Never give up. 2) Don't underestimate what you can get done with minimal time. 3) Don't underestimate the process. We'll definitely be bringing our own reliable hardware next time so we can get more time to just code.
What's next for The not so Sneaky Snack Jar
- We want to implement audio clips and instead of the buzzer going off when the light sensor is activated, the audio clip would play things like "don't touch me!", "get away from me, ya filthy animal!", etc. every time someone opens it.
