Inspiration
The inspiration came from an old project. The game consisted of following a normal numerical sequence: 1, 2, 3, 4, etc., within a specific time frame.
What it does
The game displays a board with many letters, numbers, or shapes, along with a word. The user must search for the word, letter by letter, on the board. The game ends when time runs out or when all the words are found.
How we built it
We built the application using Phaser.js, HTML, and a lot of JavaScript. The experience we have working with some games has helped us with this project.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge we face is the Devvit platform itself. It is quite new and raises many questions. However, we have found information when searching, and we follow the guidance of other users.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The experience gained previously paid off this time. We simplified an idea to the point of making it a reality and sharing it with everyone.
What we learned
We learned about the platform's capabilities. I am surprised by the closeness of the admins to the users and the help they provide.
What's next for The Next Word
We want to offer a fully editable game for the admins of each community, provide more levels with reasonable difficulty, or even a world map. We prepared everything necessary to use HTML Fetch; however, in this version, it was not possible to integrate it in time. After this, we will continue working on this project, which we see a lot of potential in. We welcome feedback and suggestions for improvement.
