Inspiration

Street wear and dance costumes meets wearable technology.

Turns your movements into a light show.

We used the available electronics including LED strips to activate a dance party.

-Getting code to function as we wanted -Emilee not knowing how to make a bucket hat -Securing electronic components to garment -TIME!

-Getting lights to work! -Making a functioning jacket -Emilee made something that goes on your head, not quite a hat.

-Time management is key -Things don't always work out the first time -Emilee learned how to use a serger

I focused on presentation materials and research. With little fashion and code skills, I helped out wherever I could. I even got to solder for the first time!

I worked on all of the wiring and programming. I wrote a custom code to turn the led lights on and then cycle through 9 different color styles and effects before turning back off. You can choose whatever effect you want and leave it on for however long you want and you control this all with one button. The button is attached to a custom circuit board I made and plugged into a Arduino Uno which is where the program is stored. We were looking into making the led lights react to movement of the person wearing it by using an accelerometer so that when the wearer danced it would look really cool. We didn’t have enough time to implement this into the program however.

I designed the jacket itself. I made the patterns from scratch and sewed everything together.
