Inspiration

• Monarch butterflies are amazing creatures and important pollinators
• We wanted to learn more about data science

What it does

• Uses the data to build a graphical map of the United States
• Represents different elements of the monarch butterfly crisis

How we built it

• Scraped the data and then concatenated
• Used Python in all of the code

Challenges we ran into

• We tried to account for biases in the data by acknowledging outliers
• Limitations in how we could represent the data

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Working with extensive amounts of data
• Utilizing LLMs for a wide variety of tasks

What we learned

• How data science can effectively solve problems in the world today
• How to overcome problems with a variety of tools in our virtual tool chest

What's next for The Monarch Butterflies Crisis: A Graphical Assessment

• We can still do more research about possible correlations and causations within the present data
• Over the years, with more data we can construct more advanced graphical models to better illustrate the problems the butterflies face
