Inspiration

I was inspired by the loss of a young man Emmanuel who lost his life via suicide. I met him at the local Carwash and interacted with him on a frequent basis. I did noticed that he struggled with alcohol use, but he was always cheerful and outgoing. a few months ago he died in very unfortunate circumstances where it appeared he had a mental break down, and later died by drowning. i created this app, in memory of Emmanuel, and people like him, who could benefit from mental health support, especially in areas where resources are low and access to mental health professionals is expensive /irregular.

What it does

Mira combines advanced AI with behavioral science to provide personalized mental health support through:

  • AI Avatar therapy companion (Tavus)
  • Voice-enabled journaling and responses (ElevenLabs)
  • Journaling
  • Real-time crisis detection and support

Mira is a next-generation mental health app that merges cutting-edge AI with responsible, evidence-based care to provide immediate, personalized, and scalable support to over 1 billion people globally.

Built at the intersection of psychological expertise, market need, and technological innovation, Mira delivers a calming, mobile-first experience that prioritizes user safety and therapeutic outcomes. Unlike other platforms, Mira leads with crisis screening at sign-up, ensuring that users in distress are identified immediately and offered accessible, one-click support.

Its three-step onboarding process (crisis screening, basic personalization, and primary goal setting) is completed in under three minutes, guiding users swiftly into their journey. The core dashboard features prioritized actions—like journaling with voice input and video avatar feedback—while secondary tools remain unobtrusively accessible.

Mira sets the standard in technical excellence, with lightning-fast load times (<3 seconds), flawless performance on both mobile and desktop, and seamless integration of tools like Tavus (AI avatars), ElevenLabs (voice journaling), and RevenueCat (subscription management). AI responses are context-aware, transcriptions are highly accurate, and the platform remains stable even during live demos.

The app uses a progressive feature unlock system, allowing users to grow at their own pace while always keeping crisis support and safety planning just a tap away. Professional referrals, mood tracking, and evidence-based safety protocols are baked into the experience to promote real-world well-being.

Mira isn’t just another wellness tool—it’s a professionally polished, globally scalable solution designed for real social impact. Its human-centered design, intuitive navigation, and integrated sponsor tools make it uniquely equipped to lead the next wave of responsible mental health innovation.

How we built it

I have no experience coding, but i was able to work my way, through the app. I used only Bolt.New. struggled with integrating Tavus. Elevenlabs was simple. Couldn't integrate Paypal, the only payment system available to me on short notice. I spent two days trying to get t to work.

Challenges we ran into

Size limits was an issue. I tried to create teh admin panel as a separate project but then that messed up my Netlify deployment. only figured that out an hour ago. The app is good at build small project, but as projects get bigger, you have to assist it with its reasoning

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I built an App!! out of nothing. It has the potential to help people across the world. I was also able to get an Academic Advisor, Professor Donna Maynard, to assist in guiding the app, and she is committed to working with me after submission.

What we learned

We can create an APP!! and the different technology like Tavus and ElevenLabs that can make the therapeutic experience being delivered by the app very human like. Like having a real therapist in your pocket

What's next for The Mira

I am working with Professor Maynard to conduct validity research on the app that will be published. also seeking to workthe Local Ministry of Health to discuss subsidising cost for an initial 100 users as a pilot phase.
