Inspiration
Our team, Sharai Baltimore and A'Lisa Meus were inspired by those around us. Another inspiration of this project was our Algebra 1 teacher Ms. Gooding. She motivates us to do better in math. She assists us when we need help in class, and she also does what she can to help us prosper. We highly appreciate her and the way she works with us.
What it does
Our app, The MathMagician, will improve math scores by assisting people with math skills that are challenging or skills they just can't remember. Our app doesn't give answers so people have to learn how to do the certain skill and can't work around the fact of actually completing the skill. This will improve math scores because students will have to learn how to do the skills both at trouble them and won't have to guess on quizzes/tests anymore.
How we built it
We used the MIT App Inventor to make our app.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges we ran into were getting the webviewer the right size in the app. Another problem we faced was the app not responding to the commands correctly. Lastly, one of the greatest problems we faced was trying to find good enough websites to use in the webviewer so people don't have to leave the app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the fact that people found our app very useful and relevant. We're also proud that we overcame some of the challenges and struggles we faced.
What we learned
We learned that creating apps is more about creativity and using you imagination more than its about knowing computer skills and how to use certain software. We also learned that there is no I in team. To create the app, we had to work together and cooperate in order to compromise and to successfully complete what part of the app we have.
What's next for The MathMagician
Something we would like to do is fix some of the bugs that causes the app to work improperly and cause stress because we don't want to contribute to stress of the user. Everyone hates a dysfunctional app! We also want to add additional skills to the app that can assist people of all ages.
