Inspiration
After doing some research, we were all very surprised when we realized how there was very few good websites that were for the mental health of men.
What it does
Increase awareness of men’s mental illness to create a safe environment for men to seek treatment and help.
How we built it
- HTML
- JavaScript
- J query
- CSS
Challenges we ran into
As we just have started to learn the web development, it was hard to figure out what went wrong and how to make it look clean. Most of the time we spent was on fixing the bugs and getting rid of unused java script & CSS. Although we have a good looking website at this moment, it looks so bad in the inside.
Accomplishments that we are proud of
As term 1 students, we have created animations for each section, a responsive navigation bar with smooth scrolling after you press on the navigation bar, as well as the features of live chat. Some problems we ran into were overlapping code, as well as formatting issues. However, in the end we have accomplished in creating a functional website.
What we learned
In doing this hackathon, we really learned a lot. Not only did we learn a lot about the stigma behind men's mental health, but we also learned a lot while creating our web page. For instance, we all have a good understanding of animations now. We came into this hackathon not knowing much about it, but we learned. We also learned how to create a responsive chat bot. Overall, we learned a lot, and really enjoyed this experience.
What's next for The Man Cave
Whats next for the man cave? We plan on making a fully functioning mobile app, including more features within the chat bot.
