Inspiration

Reincarnation began with a question: What would people sacrifice for a chance to start over—and who controls that choice?

I wanted to build a dystopian world where a corporation controls the idea of “rebirth” through a mysterious gateway called The Door. The emotional core came from imagining a father forced into an impossible decision by a system that monetizes hope, identity, and survival. The story blends social commentary, class divide, and personal sacrifice—set within a visually stylized sci-fi world.

This behind-the-scenes project was created to document the entire journey: the concepts, iterations, technical workflows, challenges, and discoveries that shaped Reincarnation.

What I Learned

Working on Reincarnation taught me how powerful AI tools can be when used thoughtfully—but also how crucial human direction, emotion, and restraint are during the creative process. I learned:

how to shape a consistent visual style across disparate AI outputs

the importance of narrative structure when working with generative tools

how to integrate AI video, compositing, color, sound, and pacing into a cohesive cinematic piece

that emotional clarity matters more than technical perfection

This BTS project also pushed me to refine my pipeline, experiment across multiple tools, and build a repeatable system for AI filmmaking.

How I Built It

The film was developed in stages, each captured in this behind-the-scenes breakdown:

  1. Concept & Worldbuilding

I explored the themes of corporate control, identity transfer, and the cost of starting over. The visual world, characters, and class dynamics were shaped through iterative AI concept generation.

  1. Shot Creation

Tools like Openart, Seedream 4.0, and Kling AI were used to generate initial shots, transitions, and stylistic variations. Each shot required multiple iterations to maintain continuity in characters, lighting, and mood.

  1. Compositing & Visual Finishing

In DaVinci Resolve and After Effects, I refined color, pacing, transitions, motion, and atmosphere. Photoshop was used for cleanup, consistency fixes, and enhancing key frames.

  1. Sound & Music

AI-generated music from ElevenLabs set the tone, while all foley and audio design were handcrafted by me to retain emotional authenticity.

  1. Final Assembly

The film was structured around emotional beats—guiding viewers through the father’s moral conflict and the corporation’s chilling promise of a “new life.”

Challenges

Achieving character consistency across AI-generated shots

Balancing stylized visuals with grounded emotional storytelling

Creating smooth continuity between different AI tool outputs

Designing believable sound that supports a surreal, dystopian world

Maintaining narrative clarity within a compact runtime

These challenges shaped both the film and this BTS project, revealing how iterative and experimental AI filmmaking truly is.
