Inspiration
One of the team members uses InnoCaption, an app that transcribes phone calls in real time. However she encountered a lot of issues with it, and therefore the team collectively decided to use the app as inspiration for a website that helps alleviate accessibility challenges for the hard of hearing.
What it does
Transcribly is an advanced platform that provides impeccable transcription services for virtual meetings, delivering unparalleled accuracy and user-friendly design. With Transcribly, you can effortlessly transform audio of virtual meetings into accurate text, saving time and ensuring a seamless transcription experience.
How we built it
Figma was used as the first step for wireframes of the product, and then it was transferred to Netfily. The case study website presentation was designed/developed on Bootstrap Studio 5.
Challenges we ran into
We originally wanted to try Microsoft Azure to caption audio in real time, but it was too complex for our skill level. We then decided to focus on the prototype designed on Figma, develop websites, and record the design process along the way.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to maintain a clean, sleek, modern look of the overall branding of Transcribly using Figma, overall creating two websites from it; one as a UX/UI case study presentation and the other as an informative page on the product.
What we learned
Anna: I learned that Figma has tons of plugins, including one where you can convert the design into html code. I also learned that domain names are tricky. Having a backup plan is also important since our original plan didn't work out, but we still pulled through!
Asiyah: It was my first time using Figma and I learned what a useful developer tool it is! I spent alot of time learning about Microsoft Azure and though we didn't end up using it, it was insightful.
Shreya: I explored the developer mode in Figma as i'm already aware with designing, which was quite fun. I also learned about hosting website on a domain!
What's next for Transcribly
To improve the project further, we will need to conduct another usability test to further solidify that our users needs have been met, and continue developing the site to make it more accessible.
