Inspiration
The initial idea was to just build a project for academics, which transformed into a startup plan. The Lobby is made for Nagaland, a state in India where metro services are far from being installed. Travel connectivity is a major issue; therefore, we thought, why not build something locally that will make people's lives easier?
What it does
The Lobby is a driver directory for the taxi drivers in the state. It allows users to digitally find drivers as per their needs and access them with ease. Riders can also book instant cabs within the app.
How we built it
We are a team of two members, one working mostly on the complete technical aspect of the project. And the other managing the distribution and marketing of the site. We stay in different places, so we try to collaborate the best way possible through GitHub, calls and WhatsApp.
Challenges we ran into
Several issues were faced during the development of the project. It was initially made using ReactJS and Node, but later on changed to NextJS. This was a huge challenge to configure all the components and maintain consistency. Another would be that we have built a site and not an app; we upgraded it to a progressive web application so that it is easily available for mobile devices too.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The completion of the project in itself is a great achievement. The thought that we have built a site that will help the public brings immense joy within us.
What we learned
We learned that with proper determination, hard work, and team collaboration, anything is possible.
What's next for The Lobby
We have a few ideas in mind for The Lobby. To implement a live map view for the riders to track drivers and a smooth payment gateway system to process the transactions.
