The Loan Ranger

Many people can't do a wide range of activities because they can't afford the equipment for it. Our project allows users to lend and borrow equipment with a local depot to overcome this restriction

Inspiration

All of us have run into situations where we would love to try out a hobby, but we couldn't afford the gear needed for it. Or bought the gear for something it turned out we didn't like.

What it does

This product allows users to lend items they have and don't currently need and borrow different items without needing to pay for the full cost of said items.

How we built it

We used Python with the django framework to create the database and back-end, and html and css to create and style the web pages. We deployed it to the web with PythonAnywhere

Challenges we ran into

We ran into issues trying to host a dynamic webpage without having to pay a significant up front cost, but eventually resolved this with PythonAnywhere

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Deployed our first dynamic website with a backend server.

What we learned

Learned much more in-depth info about the Django framework, as well as team roles and dynamics and collaboration strategies. Improved our hard skills in Python and css.

What's next for The Loan Ranger

Making the website format correctly on mobile, creating an app for it, and then connecting it with a local lending library
