Inspiration
Digital archives like The Wayback Machine and user-run dictionaries like Urban Dictionary.
What it does
Takes in user submissions for definitions and words, uses an AI scraper to generate a summary by era, and visualizes trends over time using a MUI X graph.
How we built it
MockPlus mock-up and React + Vite for the front-end.
Challenges we ran into
UI design, navigation, Github repository setup, getting everyone set up with the right software.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Following a mock-up and turning it into our website design, learning how to use React, Vite, and tsx. Also learning ShadCN and MUI X.
What's next for The Living Lexicon
Creating two separate back-ends. The first using Firebase for user authentication and word storage. The second running off Python + Flask and using an LLM to scrape user submissions and generate a summarized definition.
