Inspiration

I had an idea to make a game about cleaning up a beach or park as a part of a service project , but I never got to do it. I thought I could give it a try for this Hackathon.

What it does

You are able to walk around the map and talk to the villagers to figure out what happened, and then you fight the litterbug.

How we built it

I built this in Unity's 2D rendering platform. I made the villager, monster, and health bar sprites in Piskel and got the other sprites (map, player) from the Unity asset store and the trash from the internet.

Challenges we ran into

This was my first time programming in Unity 2D, as I usually program in 3D. I had to watch a lot a tutorials in order to get a better grasp of what I was doing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm really proud of how the sprites turned out, and had a lot of fun making them!

What we learned

I learned a lot about programming in Unity's 2D platform, and that I really enjoyed working in a 2D environment.

What's next for The Litterbug

I hope to finish the game and polish it, as the endings are bland and the dialogue boxes didn't always work. Also, I'd want to make some of my own sprites for the rest of the map.
