Inspiration
Our idea was inspired by the challenge of loading cargo onto passenger aircraft up until the last minutes before departure. Even when there is space left for more cargo, sometimes the loading is stopped to avoid delaying the flight, meaning some cargo can’t be loaded even though is loadable cargo.
What it does
Since we didn’t know much about cargo handling processing in flight operations, we learned how important digitalization is for air cargo logistics. We also learn how critical API integrations are for speeding up the process and making it more efficient.
How we built it
Before starting the project, we looked at how the IATA ONE Record API works and analyzed the problems related to cargo loading by connecting it with flight operations and customer satisfaction. We focused on improving both the cargo handling process and the issues that cause delays, while also making data sharing easier. We divided the tasks among our team; some of us worked on backend integrations, and others focused on frontend development, user experience, and presentation. We used an iterative approach in API integration, data visualization, and ensuring security, always keeping the needs of both customers and flight operations in mind.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge we faced was not knowing enough about the cargo transportation process. It took time to fully understand how things worked and come up with good solutions and that was the hardest part of the project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our project aimed to improve cargo loading processes on passenger aircraft, increasing efficiency and preventing delays. By integrating the IATA ONE Record API, we streamlined data sharing and speed up operations. Despite challenges, our teamwork resulted in a solution that enhances both cargo handling and customer satisfaction. We are proud of our innovative contribution to air cargo logistics.
What we learned
Through this process, we understood the importance of digitalization in air cargo logistics. We experienced firsthand how API integrations can enhance the speed and efficiency of operations. Additionally, we recognized the critical role of teamwork and effective communication in the success of projects. We also improved our knowledge of solving existing problems in the air transportation sector.
What's next for The less
In the future, we aim to further enhance our solution by gathering more user feedback. This feedback will be essential in increasing the functionality of the system. Additionally, we plan to expand our API integrations with other airlines to enable more data sharing and collaboration. By doing so, we hope to contribute to the further optimization of air cargo processes.
