Inspiration
The Last Transmission” is inspired by the question: What if the only warning about the future came too late? I wanted to explore a world where time becomes the final channel of communication—where a signal from a broken tomorrow tries to alter the present. Sci-fi films about dystopian futures, temporal anomalies, and digital transmissions heavily shaped the tone and atmosphere.
What it does
This project presents a short cinematic trailer that visualizes a world in 2055 on the edge of collapse, sending a final message back to 2025. The trailer highlights the contrast between a hopeful present and a fractured future, using AI-generated visuals and modern editing to create a tense, mysterious, and emotional sci-fi experience.
How we built it
All scenes were generated using Kling AI to create futuristic environments, characters, and visual tone.
The footage was then edited, arranged, color-graded, and refined in CapCut.
Sound design and pacing were shaped to match the transitions between timelines, enhancing the cinematic feel.
The story was built through visual sequencing rather than dialogue, using minimal text for dramatic emphasis.
Challenges we ran into
Achieving consistent visual style across multiple AI-generated shots.
Balancing pacing between calm present-day scenes and intense future sequences.
Syncing music with the emotional beats of the trailer, especially when generating dynamic sound with AI tools.
Maintaining clarity of the time-travel concept within a very short trailer format.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully creating a coherent sci-fi narrative using entirely AI-generated visuals.
Establishing a strong cinematic tone through editing, sound shifts, and visual storytelling.
Bringing two different timelines—2025 and 2055—together seamlessly in a short trailer.
Producing a visually compelling piece using accessible tools like Kling AI and CapCut.
What we learned
How to structure an AI-generated trailer with emotional and narrative flow.
Techniques for stabilizing style consistency across various AI tools.
How to leverage CapCut for professional-level pacing, typography, and color work.
The importance of music dynamics when shaping tension and atmosphere in a sci-fi story.
What's next for THE LAST TRANSMISSION Official Trailer
Expanding the concept into a full short film exploring the events of 2055 in depth.
Creating a longer cinematic sequence that shows more of the world’s collapse.
Experimenting with more refined AI tools for character expression and environmental continuity.
Possibly developing an extended version with original score and voice-driven narrative.
