Inspiration

The project was inspired by the idea that the future is not fixed — that a single message, a single signal, or a single choice can shift the direction of an entire world. We wanted to explore a story where tomorrow tries to warn today before it collapses.

What it does

The Last Transmission is a short AI-generated sci-fi film that tells the story of a world in 2055 that has fallen into climate collapse, human conflict, and technological failure. A signal from that ruined future travels back to the present day, delivering a final warning. The film explores how small decisions today can prevent catastrophic outcomes tomorrow.

How we built it

We created the film using:

Kling AI — to generate all principal scenes, environments, characters, and transitions.

CapCut — for editing, pacing, color grading, sound design, and final assembly.

The workflow blends multiple AI-generated shots into a coherent narrative across two timelines: 2025 and 2055.

Challenges we ran into

Ensuring consistent character design across different time periods.

Generating stable scenes for futuristic environments with Kling AI.

Merging multiple AI outputs into a smooth, cinematic sequence.

Balancing pacing, emotional tone, and clarity in two parallel timelines.

Crafting a story that feels human, meaningful, and urgent despite being AI-generated.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully building a full narrative film with AI-generated visuals.

Achieving consistent visual tone between the present and dystopian future timelines.

Creating a coherent emotional arc using minimal dialogue and strong imagery.

Delivering a polished, cinematic short film using only AI tools and creative editing.

What we learned

How to direct and guide AI video generation for coherent storytelling.

How to manage visual consistency across scenes and time periods.

The importance of pacing and audio design in AI-generated films.

That AI tools like Kling and CapCut can significantly accelerate creative filmmaking when used thoughtfully.

What's next for THE LAST TRANSMISSION

We plan to expand the universe by developing:

A longer extended cut exploring more of the 2055 timeline.

Additional transmissions and warnings from alternate futures.

A potential episodic format that follows the consequences of the message.

Further refinement using future AI tools for higher fidelity visuals.
