Inspiration
The chemicals released from plastic pollution have a wide range of negative effects on our environment. We knew we wanted to target fixing the environment, but we also wanted to take into consideration that fixing climate change and the environment can be overwhelming and complex for a participant in modern day daily life. So we came up with a way to broadcast a simple solution: do not use plastic straws.
What it does
This website sheds lights on the importance of eliminating plastic straws. It contains information about the cause, a live number that counts the amount of straws produced since the user clicked the screen, plans of action, web diagrams, and a pledge.
How we built it
We used html, css, and java script to code a website and an algorithm to count number of straws being used.
Challenges we ran into
The algorithm was tricky to make and we spent a lot of time on the navigation bar.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Neither of us have experience in Java script, and have not coded in html and css in 3 years, so we learned and adapted well.
