Inspiration

For decades, human-computer interaction has been limited by screens, menus, and fixed interfaces. Even in mixed reality, users still interact through app-based systems that mirror traditional software.

The idea behind The Last Interface came from a simple question: what if mixed reality itself became programmable? Instead of navigating interfaces, users could directly shape the environments around them.

What it does

The Last Interface transforms the Logitech MX Ink stylus into a spatial programming tool for mixed reality.

Users can:

  • Draw objects directly into existence
  • Define spatial zones with behaviors
  • Create responsive environments
  • Shape digital spaces in real time

It reimagines the stylus not just as an input device, but as a tool for controlling and creating reality within XR.

How we built it

This project is presented as a conceptual mixed reality application designed for Logitech’s MX Ink stylus ecosystem.

The system envisions using spatial tracking, gesture recognition, and XR environment mapping to interpret stylus movements as commands that generate objects, define spaces, and trigger environmental behaviors.

Challenges we ran into

One key challenge was designing an interaction model that moves beyond traditional menus and UI systems while still remaining intuitive.

Another challenge was visualizing a future-forward concept in a clear and compelling way without a fully developed hardware prototype.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We developed a clear vision for a next-generation XR interface that aligns closely with Logitech’s creative and productivity ecosystem.

The project presents a strong narrative, product direction, and interaction model that can evolve into a real mixed reality application.

What we learned

We explored how interaction design must evolve as computing shifts into spatial environments.

We learned that tools like a stylus can become far more powerful when treated not just as input devices, but as instruments that shape digital reality itself.

What's next for The Last Interface

The next phase would involve developing a working mixed reality prototype integrating Logitech’s MX Ink stylus with XR development frameworks.

Future iterations could expand into creative tools, spatial design, immersive productivity, and collaborative environment creation within mixed reality.
