Inspiration
The Backrooms
The Mimic
Liminal Spaces
Dark Deception
What it does
A horror-escape game where the user must navigate three mazes with increasingly difficult puzzles to find their way to the exit
How we built it
We worked in Roblox Studio to do all of the coding and modeling.
Challenges we ran into
Learning the Lua programming language and Roblox Studio interface (some for the first time, others relearning it) while building our project
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud we were able to pull together a functioning game with various mechanics that can entertain and challenge our players
We're also proud of capturing the 'liminal' aesthetic of wandering through an unknown place without knowing whether you might be safe or not
What we learned
How to make working buttons
How to trigger events by touching certain blocks
How to 'teleport' a player to a specific position
How to make a hostile entity that follows the player around
What's next for The Labyrinth
Maybe there won't be a Labyrinth II, but we now have the skills to continue to explore new ideas and possibly create new games in the future
