Inspiration
I’m a student and a designer, not a coder, but I’ve always loved movies and storytelling. A few days ago, I watched an anime that explored experiments, the persistence of life, and eerie laboratories. It inspired me to create this website as a horror lover, imagining what a real archive of human experiments might look like. I wanted to bring a dark, immersive atmosphere to life, blending mystery, psychological horror, and design.
What I Learned
Through this project, I learned how to tell a story visually and psychologically without relying on coding. I explored layout design, typography, color schemes, and composition to create a chilling experience. I also learned how to make simple design tools like Canva or Wix feel interactive and atmospheric. Most importantly, I discovered how small details, like fonts, colors, and logs, can create suspense and unease.
How I Built My Project
I built the site using Canva and Wix because I had very little time and coding is not my strength. The project includes:
A hero banner with a dark lab background and eerie typewriter text
Scrollable case files with logs, observations, and timestamps
An About section explaining the origin of the archive and my story
Design inspired by Pinterest images of labs, documents, and horror aesthetics
Even without coding, I focused on creating a realistic and immersive atmosphere. Glitch effects, red/white on black color palette, and eerie quotes help visitors feel like the archive is alive.
Challenges I Faced
Time was my biggest challenge. I had very little time to expand the experiments, create more files, or add interactive elements. Despite this, I focused on quality over quantity and tried to make every element count. Balancing realism and horror without using graphic content was also challenging, but it helped me develop creativity in storytelling and design.
