Episode 1 of an ongoing micro-dramedy series set in the world’s most unmanageable hospital.

When a white-haired escape artist rips off her restraints and disappears into the hallways, she sets off a chain reaction of tiny dramas. Designed as the first chapter in a bingeable series, The Houdini introduces a cast of unforgettable characters: the workaholic still chasing deadlines on his deathbed, the chatty social butterfly who barges into every room, the pill-dealing opportunist, the long-gone “corpse” somehow still on Medicare, the overly optimistic organ-donation scout, and more.

I spent a lot of time in hospitals recently, with both of my parents passing away this year. I started writing these little skits as a kind of comedy therapy - a way to laugh through some of the surreal, heartbreaking, and sometimes absurd moments that come with end-of-life care. The characters are fictional, but if you’ve spent enough time in hospitals, you’ll probably recognize a few. 😅
