Inspiration
Simply to build a Chrome Dino game where you have to yell Jump to Jump over the obstacles. What makes things interesting is the lag.
Also, the domain names registered for this Hackathon are references to Amanda Gorman's poem - "The Hill we Climb"
What it does
You ask the Chrome Dino to jump. It jumps. Sometimes. Give Microphone Access to the site. Try to not say anything before saying "Jump". It locks the first word as a validation to start. If some other words are logged, refresh the page and try again.
How we built it
With HTML, CSS, Javascript, and the Web Speech API. The Web Speech API has just been tested on Google Chrome, so not sure about the support in other browsers, and how they implement the API. Chrome internally uses the Google Cloud Speech API for doing the transcription. Additionally, the site has been deployed on Firebase.
What's next for The Hills we Jump
A public leaderboard where you can post your High Score because tbh, this is much, much harder than the original game.
