Inspiration

I'm a 25yo Developer, and the Flutter Puzzle Hack exited me about develop a sliding game with Hexagonal Shape. I always wanted to develop a game about the Hexagons shapes. I loved this shape, well-formed, fully symmetric.

My inspiration came from the Sliding Puzzle from VG Ventures. That was my first time that I use Bloc Management, that was very interesting!

What it does

The classic sliding puzzle is obsolete yet. This Hexagonal Sliding game is an attractive game with intuitive interface of the famous board game.

Play on different level and share your result on social network !

How I built it

I built it with Flutter and Bloc Management. I also used Firebase Database to save score of the player, to show Leaderboard.

Every day after my work hour, I developed this game, during 3 weeks.

Challenges I ran into

The most difficult challenge was to use Hexagons. This website (https://www.redblobgames.com/grids/hexagons/) help me a lot to build this puzzle. Because Hexagons has not the same axial position than square. So that was difficult to calculate the way that tiles moved, or can be moved.

Another challenge was to build for multi support (Web and Mobile on different screen size). That was the first time that I developed a Flutter project for Web, and for IOS. I was only developed on Android. But I think that was achieved very well.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am very proud about my hexagonal sliding puzzle. I respected all the condition in a limited time. I shared it to my friends, and they say that was very addictive. I loved it!

What we learned

You learned a new way of Sliding Puzzle, with hexagons. And you will appreciate this, for sure ! :)

What's next for Hexagonal Sliding Puzzle

Next, I want to enlarge the language of the game. Today it's only French and English translation. I also want to add new modes, new shapes of tiles and add an account manager, with bonus and score saving.
