Inspiration

The inspiration for this project comes from the need to improve communication between patients and doctors. Many patients struggle to remember and convey their complete medical history during consultations, leading to misdiagnoses, incorrect treatments, and health complications. By providing a comprehensive digital health resume, we aim to ensure that doctors have all the necessary information to make informed decisions, thus improving patient care and outcomes.

What it does

The Health Resume is an interactive dashboard that allows patients to upload their medical reports, which are then analyzed by AI to extract key findings. It stores and visualizes patient data over time, helping both patients and doctors track health trends, manage medications, and make better-informed healthcare decisions.

How we built it

We built the Health Resume using Python with Streamlit for the front-end interface, Flask for backend processing, and MongoDB for data storage. OpenAI's API was integrated to analyze uploaded medical reports and extract critical insights. The dashboard features various visualizations to display patient health trends over time.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was ensuring the security and privacy of sensitive health data while maintaining a user-friendly interface. Integrating AI for accurate report analysis and managing real-time data updates was also technically challenging, requiring careful handling of data flow and response times.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have developed a functional prototype that successfully integrates AI to analyze medical reports, providing clear and valuable insights. The real-time updating dashboard and the ability to visualize patient data over time represent significant steps towards improving healthcare communication and decision-making.

What we learned

We learned the importance of designing a user-centered interface that balances functionality with ease of use, especially in sensitive areas like healthcare. We also gained experience in integrating various technologies, from AI to data visualization, to create a comprehensive solution.

What's next for the Health Resume

Future plans include enhancing the AI analysis capabilities with more advanced models, integrating IoT devices for real-time health monitoring, expanding data security measures, and developing features that support telemedicine and remote patient care. We also aim to refine the dashboard's user interface and experience based on feedback from both patients and healthcare professionals.
