Inspiration
We wanted to build a nostalgic, immersive, text-based RPG—but reimagined for the browser era. Inspired by mythologies from around the world and the elegance of interactive fiction, The Hawk & The Thunder was born in a single Bolt prompt. No backend. No databases. Just a story that unfolds with every choice.
What it does
Players take on the role of Karuun, a mystical hawk soaring through forgotten skies, unraveling a mythic tale shaped by player decisions.
How we built it
We used bolt.new and a single prompt to scaffold the entire application, including:
- Story engine
- Tailwind UI with dark-mode fantasy aesthetic
- Game state stored in browser memory
- JSON-based chapters for fast iteration
- No Supabase, no database—just static logic and data
What's next for The Hawk & The Thunder
- Add player inventory and collectible Mythic Artifacts
- Introduce music and subtle sound FX
- Export player journeys as shareable “Chronicles”
- Publish as a standalone PWA
- Maybe... just maybe... procedurally generate new sagas
Built With
- tailwindcss
- typescript
- vite
- zustand
