💡 Inspiration 💡

This website is inspired by the Home Alone series because essentially the series is about a young boy being left alone at home or elsewhere. This made me think about how some people who don’t live with their families or are alone might need some comfort in the form of recipes to make yummy food for themselves, playlists to enjoy the season, opportunities to send gifts to other people to get that sense of giving and possible get a gift for themselves as well.

⚙️ What it does ⚙️

The Great Christmas Exchange is a Christmas themed exchange program where lonely individuals or people who need it can find Christmas themed playlists, Christmas themed recipes, new friends to connect with, and gift ideas to satisfy their needs this Christmas.

The Great Christmas Exchange allows users to register an account and log in under that account. Once logged in, you can access your find a friend page and more to the overall website to order gifts, etc.

🛠 How I built it 🛠

I built this website using Repl.it, HTML, CSS, Javascript and Django. I also used spotify to add the playlists.

😣Challenges I ran into 😣

Unfortunately with just 1 day to create this project and other projects that I needed to make for other competitions I am doing this weekend, time was not on my side. If I had had more time, I would have made my website look more developed and fancy and I would have actually developed the sign-in feature to have an actual account.

🎉 Accomplishments that I'm proud of 🎉

While I have participated in another Hackathon before in which I had to complete an entire project in one day, I had two other teammates to help me complete the project. This time, I opted to work by myself therefore having to complete an entire project within a day. I was also unsure about what Christmas/Snow themed project to create so I am proud of being able to come up with an innovative idea in a short period of time.

I personally learnt how to create a sign in feature using Django.

Next, I want to create an account for The Great Christmas Exchange to allow people to personally contribute and be able to do more on the website. I also want to add customizable playlists and recipes rather than just having ready-made ones.
