Inspiration

We have found that common issue among us, our spouses, and roommates is so many chores get left, put off, or ignored so long due to lack of motivation or priority.

What it does

Our web page allows users to create a local competition where tasks are listed, given points, and assigned to the competitors. As tasks are completed the user's have a custom reward shop where they can agree on the rewards they want and the price for it.

How we built it

We built our project using a git hub repository linked to VS Code. From there, we hosted a live share and coded and communicated as we followed our wireframes / plans. We used HTML, CSS, and Javascript as our languages for our game. Our sources for code, quick help, and explanations were W3 Schools, Chat GPT, Google, Eachother, and Chat GPT 5 Mini.

Challenges we ran into

The CSS and Javascript struggled a lot to mix and it torn up our HTML constantly. Our biggest issue was making our webpage scalable as well as consistency in size. On average, it would be an hour of coding, and 3 hours of debugging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We not only achieved our primarily milestones but we even had time to complete most of our stretch assignments. Some of which include, multi-player, a functional point shope, as well as additional chores distributors.

What we learned

Preparation is vital for a successful I-Hack. We are freshman and lack a lot of experience but setting an achievable goal making the most with our strengths has allowed us to push ourselves and exceed our own expectations.

What's next for The Great Chore Off

Developing the app version, LAN and Online capabilities, as well as a better UI.
