Inspiration
We were inspired by the employees themselves. They are passionate about their job, but they simply feel they lack the time and resources to properly establish meaningful connections with the residents. We wanted to develop a program that did not increase their workload, but instead provided the opportunity to integrate their passions into their job.
What it does
It is a workshop that gives caregivers tools to customize enrichment programs for the residents based on mutual interests.
How we built it
We structured it from the bottom up. We sought out a list of what was needed and what was wanted. Then developed a structured program of support to make this happen.
Challenges we ran into
Ensuring that creating these new programs that put the caretaking team into positions of ownership did not simply increase their workload. We wanted to empower them, but not overwhelm them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a product that real nurses approve of and wish that they had in their employment facilities.
What we learned
We learned that the most important step towards a solution is deeply listening to those who are most impacted by the issue.
What's next for The Golden Link
It needs to be given the opportunity to prove itself as a successful program through implementation at a facility. Its analytical program needs to be further developed for a larger caseload of data.
