The Golden Bill

We developed a financial literacy website implementing blockchain technology and featuring AI-powered financial tools alongside fun games. The goal for this website is to enhance financial knowledge.

Inspiration

The Golden Bill is a website that can act as a personal transaction tracker, financial literacy coach, and educational game. Each of our team members had a special connection to the ideas which came together in this project. Kaitlyn became interested in long-term savings over this past winter break, so she wanted to create an AI-powered financial literacy coach. John was having issues with overspending and keeping a budget, so over time and with the help of a support system, he was able to overcome that habit. Meg and Ali had been interested in learning more about their finances, and this project inspired them.

What it does

Our website runs a story-driven financial literacy game, in which you play as a duck going through an average duck day, making decisions such as taking the bus or driving to work. In the next section, you can log your purchases and transactions into a hash-secured blockchain. The Financial Advisor section contains the financial advisor chatbot which can securely access your transactions and provide advice or resources for smarter finances.

How we built it

We built the project in four main sections: game development, database and AI, blockchain, and website development.

Challenges we ran into

Our team's main struggle was connecting the database, blockchain code, and website front-end. This took a lot of trial and error and countless generative AI interrogations, but in the end, we managed to get everything connected. We also struggled with training the AI. After four models, we ended up going back to one of the first models and tweaking it to become our final product.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud that, in the end, we have a working project to show. We all learned new technologies, or dove even deeper into our specializations.

What we learned

We learned about training machine-learning models, blockchain, web development, database pipelines, and the fundamental skill of turning an idea into something real.

What's next for The Golden Bill

Next, we would like to create a log-in system to support multiple users, build graphics that display information based on submitted transactions, and better implement the chatbot.
