Inspiration

We recognized the problem of blind people running into objects and saw car object detection systems and decided to use them to solve the problem

What it does

Using AI, it senses objects in the way of the person so that they are made aware of any obstacles in the way through audio cues

How we built it

Using Python and Computer Vision along side a Hugging Face model, we are able to create a headset that can detect objects in the vision view of the person wearing it.

Challenges we ran into

Possibility that it breaks. Ethical concerns for privacy when scanning people in the way

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Aid the blind towards detecting objects from a farther distance than with a white cane.

Can make it more durable, make it sense objects from a larger distance, be better at detecting the kind of object it "sees"
